The East European Jewish Heritage Project is a not for profit charitable organisation dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of the East European Jewish way of life and religion. We provide humanitarian, medical and educational aid to Jewish communities in East Europe. We also work to preserve historic Jewish sites. We provide oversight of Jewish welfare issues in the regions in which we are active. At present we are focused in Belarus but have plans for expansion in the next 12 months.
We are dedicated to the encouragement of local and grassroots initiatives in the Jewish community.

Yes. We work with a range of Jewish and Non-Jewish organizations from World Jewish Relief, the 35s, Action for Post-Soviet Jewry, the United Nations Development Project and U.S.A.I.D. amongst many others. We also work in close association with networks of Synagogues in North America, West Europe and South Africa.
In Belarus we will work with any democratically run organisation which keeps open accounts and maintains aid distribution costs of 10% or less of disbursements. We will not deal with any Jewish organisation which practices aid discrimination on the basis of religious tradition. We will attempt to help any Jew in need.

The East European Jewish Heritage Project is a Jewish organisation which provides aid to Jews of all persuasions: Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and any other Jewish denomination (but not so-called messianic Jews). The EEJHP provides support for religious education, observance and research but it also is active in the provision of aid for all member of the community without regard to faith, ethnicity or nationality. In effect the EEJHP is both a religious and secular organisation.

No. We provide humanitarian aid to the entire community. The East European Jewish Heritage Project believes that Jews must see themselves not just as recipients of aid. That will only produce a beggar’s mentality. Jews must also be benefactors. We provide aid to over 200 hospitals, schools and orphanages and to a range of health charities and organisations. One of our best examples is our work with the Minsk Children’s Infectious Diseases Hospital which, by the way, has also benefited from our hospital twinning programme. This has raised the profile and status of Jews in Belarus and has had many direct and indirect benefits for the community.
Having said that it must be emphasized that our first commitment is to the Jewish Community and to our supporters. Our promise: Your Gift Goes Where You Want it to Go means that, within the limits of IRS(US), the donor decides who and which organisations receive aid.

Only in the most general sense. The East European Jewish Heritage Project supports democracy, personal choice and the development of civic society. We do not support any political parties or movements either inside or outside the countries in which we work.
The East European Jewish Heritage Project is concerned that these principles be followed in Jewish institutions and organisations. We oppose any Soviet-Era style leadership or autocracy within Jewish organisations.
Naturally we are alert to any evidence of religious discrimination and anti-Semitism and bring them to the attention of local and international governments.

Basically it comes from you. The East European Jewish Heritage Project does not accept any funds derived from Holocaust restitution or from organisations which are largely financed from such monies. We believe that all such money should go to the victims of the Holocaust and their heirs.
This means that we are financed by private donors, community organisations, foundations and through grants for specific projects. Increasingly we derive income from revenue producing activities such as tourism and research.
