SAVING JEWISH LIVES AND TRADITIONS
The East European Jewish Heritage Project
Photos
Over the next month a gallery of photos of Belarusian Jewish life and sites will be added to this site. Presented now is a series of photographs taken by the residents of Sver of the abandoned Jewish cemetery in their village. The Jews of Sver were murdered during the Second World War by Germans and their Lithuanian accomplices but the current inhabitants, in common with many Belarusian, are eager to preserve the artefacts of their nation’s Jewish heritage. On their own they are undertaking the conservation of the cemetery. We will report on their progress and enlist support for this admirable effort. If you are interested and would like to assist please contact the East European Jewish Heritage Project.
